Psalm 138

Of David.

I will praise you, O LORD ,
with all my heart;
before the "gods"
I will sing your praise.
I will bow down
toward your holy temple
and will praise your name
for your love and your faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things
your name and your word.
When I called, you answered me;
you made me bold and stouthearted.
May all the kings of the earth praise you, O LORD ,
when they hear
the words of your mouth.
May they sing of the ways of the LORD ,
for the glory of the LORD is great.
Though the LORD is on high,
he looks upon the lowly,
but the proud he knows from afar.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you preserve my life;
you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes,
with your right hand you save me.
The LORD will fulfill
his purpose for me;
your love, O LORD , endures forever-
do not abandon
the works of your hands.

Faith is
God's work in us

By Martin Luther

Faith is not what some people think it is. Their human dream is a delusion. Because they observe that faith is not followed by good works or a better life, they fall into error, even though they speak and hear much about faith. "Faith is not enough,'' they say, "You must do good works, you must be pious to be saved.'' They think that, when you hear the gospel, you start working, creating by your own strength a thankful heart which says, "I believe.'' That is what they think true faith is. But, because this is a human idea, a dream, the heart never learns anything from it, so it does nothing and reform doesn't come from this`faith,' either.

Instead, faith is God's work in us, that changes us and gives new birth from God. (John 1:13). It kills the Old Adam and makes us completely different people. It changes our hearts, our spirits, our thoughts and all our powers. It brings the Holy Spirit withit. Yes, it is a living, creative, active and powerful thing, this faith. Faith cannot help doing good works constantly. It doesn't stop to ask if good works ought to be done, but before anyone asks, it already has done them and continues to do them without ceasing. Anyone who does not do good works in this manner is an unbeliever. He stumbles around and looks for faith and good works, even though he does not know what faith or good works are. Yet he gossips and chatters about faith and good works with many words.

Faith is a living, bold trust in God's grace, so certain of God's favor that it would risk death a thousand times trusting in it. Such confidence and knowledge of God's grace makes you happy, joyful and bold in your relationship to God and all creatures. The Holy Spirit makes this happen through faith. Because of it, you freely, willingly and joyfully do good to everyone, serve everyone, suffer all kinds of things, love and praise the God who has shown you such grace. Thus, it is just as impossible to separate faith and works as it is to separate heat and light from fire! Therefore, watch out for your own false ideas and guard against good-for-nothing gossips, who think they're smart enough to define faith and works, but really are the greatest of fools. Ask God to work faith in you, or you will remain forever without faith, no matter what you wish, say or can do.

What's happening in Heilongjiang?

China - “I preached a lot as a full-time evangelist, sometimes in public buses. I always experienced that the Holy Spirit gave me great authority, and many passengers broke out in tears, confessing their sins and giving their lives to Jesus. Sometimes, the bus driver had to stop while I prayed with the passengers who wanted to be saved. Once, everyone wanted to be baptised on the spot - including the bus driver and conductor.

Sister Wei from Wei Heilongjiang tells about Gods work in China.

Chasing the Dragon - speech

By Jackie Pullinger

Jesus is the universal solution. If you have a behaviour that you can't stop, or know someone who's addicted in some way, Jesus says in John 4:16 'I am the Way, and the Truth and the Life'. But we need to find, for every single life, the key to the way into that life. And it's not the same key for every person!

A man is powerful
on his knees

You may never know that JESUS is all you need, until JESUS is all you have.

Faith is like radar that sees through the fog -- the reality of things at a distance that the human eye cannot see.

Memories are the key not to the past, but to the future.

Discernment is God's call to intercession, never to faultfinding.

It is not my ability, but my response to God's ability, that counts.

Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible.

A man is powerful on his knees.

Brother Yun:
walking out of prison

"The Lord encouraged me with a promise from Hebrews 10:35, "So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded." I awoke with these words in my mind."

The Heavenly Man is the intensely dramatic story of how God took a young, half-starved boy from a poor village in Henan Province and used him mightily to preach the gospel despite horrific opposition.

Brother Yun is one of China's house church leaders, a man who despite his relative youth has suffered prolonged torture and imprisionment for his faith. Instead of focusing on the many miracles or experiences of suffering, however, Yun prefers to emphasize the character and beauty of Jesus.

To whom can I return from the arms of my God?

Mehdi Dibaj who was born into a Muslim family became a Christian 45 Years ago. On December 21, 1993 an Islamic court in the city of Sari (Iran) condemned him to die.

Excerpt from the written defense of Mehdi Dibaj delivered to the Sari Court of Justice:

They tell me, "Return!" But to whom can I return from the arms of my God? Is it right to accept what people are saying instead of obeying the Word of God? It is now 45 years that I am walking with the God of miracles, and His kindness upon me is like a shadow and I owe Him much for His fatherly love and concern.
The love of Jesus has filled all my being and I feel the warmth of His love in every part of my body. God, who is my glory and honor and protector, has put his seal of approval upon me through His unsparing blessings and miracles.

God's power is made perfect in weakness

By Rolland Baker

It would be easy to list our testimonies of victory and create the impression that we have come to live a life of protected ease, blessing and fruitfulness. But our life of faith is continually and increasingly put to the test, not only revealing our flaws, but also His mercies, which are new every morning. We die daily, and daily we are raised again after having lost all reliance on ourselves. We are only in the beginning stages of learning to trust God, who raises the dead.

God

By Augustine

"What , then, is the God I worship? He can be none but the Lord God himself, for who but the Lord is God? What other refuge can there be, except our God? You, my God, are supreme, utmost in goodness, mightiest and the all-powerful, most merciful and most just...you are my God, my Life, my holy Delight, but is this enough to say of you? Can any man say enough when he speaks of you?"

Christ Our Life

By Watchman Nee

(...)I once arrived in America in the home of a saved couple who requested me to pray for them. I inquired the case of their trouble. `Oh, Mr. Nee, we have been in a bad way lately', they confessed. `We are so easily irritated by the children, and during the past few weeks we have both lost our tempers several times a day. We are really dishonoring the Lord. Will you ask Him to give us patience?' `That is the one thing I cannot do', I said. `What do you mean?' they asked. `I mean that one thing is certain', I answered, `and that is that God is not going to answer your prayer.' At that they said in amazement, `Do you mean to tell us we have gone so far that God is not willing to hear us when we ask Him to make us patient?' `No, I do not mean quite that, but I would like to ask you if you have ever prayed in this respect. You have. But did God answer? No! Do you know why? Because you have no need of patience.' Then the eyes of the wife blazed up. She said, `What do you mean? We do not need patience, and yet we get irritated the whole day long! What do you mean?' `It is not patience you have need of', I answered, `it is Christ.'
